Furniture gets dirty the same way carpet does
Couches soak up body oils, crumbs, pet hair and the occasional spilled drink. You usually notice it on the arms and headrests first, where the fabric starts to look darker and a little shiny. A good cleaning brings the color back and gets rid of that lived-in smell.
We check the fabric first
Most furniture has a cleaning code on a tag under the cushions. It tells you what the fabric can handle:
- W: water-based cleaning is fine
- S: solvent only, no water
- W/S: either one works
- X: vacuum only, no wet cleaning at all
We look at the code and test a hidden spot before we start. Microfiber and most synthetic fabrics clean up really well. Delicate fabrics get a gentler method, and if something shouldn't be cleaned wet, we'll tell you.
What we clean
Sofas and sectionals, recliners and armchairs, dining chairs, ottomans, and mattresses (freshening and spot treatment).
Drying time
Most fabric is dry in 2 to 6 hours. A fan pointed at the couch helps.
Typical cost: $80–$150 for a standard sofa. Sectionals and heavily soiled pieces cost more, and it's cheaper when you add it to a carpet cleaning.
